The 10 Websites To Get Your Articles Discovered!

21,22957

Even after all the hard work you put into your blog post, you still have another detail to take care of. You will now have to think of ways to promote your blog as mentioned in my articles The Recipe For A Successful Blog and The 5 Steps To Follow When Starting A Blog.  You will notice that I place a lot of importance on promoting your site. After all, if you don’t do it, who will?  Some people are a bit hesitant to do so because they think that it’s a costly process.

I am not saying that it will be easy, but there are ways that you can effectively promote your sites and your articles for free. Please note that even though it may be free of charge, it will still cost you a lot of effort. The things worth doing usually do. Promoting your site will not only increase traffic, but also the comments and feedback from readers. I have found through experience that promoting blogs on different websites, especially the social networking sites, really helps. A great example is Bit Rebels.com where the majority of our readers are loyal Twitter users that enjoy reading social media, tech and design updates and stories. Main Image Source

There are a lot of sites that you can tap into and they can be a tool to promote your articles and your blog. We use them and hope that they can be useful to you too.

1. Twitter – Twitter for those who do not use it yet, is a micro blogging site that allows you to share links, information, engage and converse in 140 characters at a time. You need to learn how to tweet so you can share information to people who are willing to listen and retweet the information you give.

2. FaceBook – Facebook is another social networking platform that has grown tremendously. The users spend time playing games, uploading photos and sharing links and information that they know their friends and family will appreciate. You can create a personal account and a page that you can dedicate to share your materials. People who like what you share can “like” your page and get your links on their newsfeed whenever you update. They can even comment and “like” what you share.

3. StumbleUpon – StumbleUpon lets you discover and share websites with a community of people with the same interests. Using search engines to locate relevant content typically means hunting through many pages of results. Rather than searching for quality web sites, StumbleUpon members are taken directly to websites matching their personal interests and preferences. Image Source

4. Digg – Digg is a site where a community of people discover and share sites to their network of people. From the biggest online destinations to the most obscure blog, Digg surfaces the best stuff as voted on by users. You won’t find editors at Digg, they provide a place where people can collectively determine the value of content. They are changing the way people consume information online. How it works is that people discover your site and if they like it they will share it.  Once that happens, other people also have the option now to share and discuss.

5. Technorati – Technorati is a site that measures a blogs authority. Technorati’s goal is to collect interesting original content from across the English-language blogosphere. It would be great if your blog becomes a part of the ones that the site recommends to their community.

6. Reddit – Reddit is a site that allows people to discover what is new and popular on the web.  Users can submit their content for members of the site to read and vote whether they like it or not. The links that are submitted and get the most number of up votes get to be the #1 or headline for that particular day.

7. Delicious – Delicious allows a person to bookmark an article if she or he likes that article or if it is useful enough to keep as a file online. How it works is that the url is saved and one can add a note and use tags when they bookmark the particular link.  What is great about the site is that it is also a community of people and once you share a link, they can also have access to your bookmark.

8. Mixx – Mixx makes it easy to find stories, photos and videos that you might not have found on your own. After all, who has time to sift through everything that’s out there? With Mixx, you can click on any tab and get great content as votted by the Mixx community.

9. Design Float – Design Float is similar to the other ones mentioned above but with a specific niche which is design related.  One can submit a story and the community votes on that story.

10. Google Bookmarks – Last but certainly not the least is Google.  One can also submit a URL or a link and bookmark it for people to discover and share. Image source

Thanks! I use the first three regularly. Blogger updates Twitter and FB automatically! :) I just manually “stumble upon” and occasionally “digg” my posts. Traffic is still just so-so though. :)

As always, love your posts!
